We’re so excited about our partnership with The High Museum of Art’s Basquiat exhibition,
we decided to put out a Basquiat-inspired mixtape series! Each member of our company
has created a playlist that reminds them of the prolific JMB. First up is Indya Childs:
Jean-Michel Basquiat, native to Brooklyn, NY, was an artist that challenged many of the social stigmas in the 70s and 80s. His work provided an abstract view on topics such as racism, social status, and the overall human experience. I wanted my playlist to evoke the reclusive Basquiat who just wanted to create art. He did not want to reach out to the media about his work or explain his process or the ideas behind it. Enjoy this short playlist and find us performing Post tonight at the Hambidge art auction at The Goat Farm.
Basquiat Bash is May 6th at The High Museum of Art.
